Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Supervise student conduct during transport and ensure boarding/alignment procedures
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Adhere to NYC traffic laws and Department of Transportation regulations
- Complete accurate trip documentation and incident reports
- Assist students with mobility needs as required
Qualifications
- Valid New York State CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years driving experience (commercial preferred)
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours (mornings, afternoons, field trips)
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong sense of responsibility and student-focused mindset
- Physical ability to assist students with mobility equipment
