Responsibilities
- Operate heavy dump trucks safely and efficiently on various job sites in Oakland and surrounding areas.
- Load and unload materials (dirt, rock, sand, asphalt) using a loader or by hand, ensuring proper weight distribution.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIR) and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Maintain accurate logs and adhere to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and site supervisors regarding job progress and delays.
- Keep the truck and trailer clean and organized at all times.
- Practice safe driving habits to ensure the safety of yourself, your cargo, and the public.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements (Class B or Tanker often required for dump trucks).
- A clean driving record with no more than two moving violations in the past three years.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform minor roadside repairs if necessary.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy loads and work in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to undergo paid on-the-job training for those with no prior dump truck experience.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) for clear communication.
