Responsibilities
- Operate Dump Trucks: Safely and efficiently operate dump trucks to transport various materials including dirt, sand, gravel, and asphalt on designated routes.
- Load and Unload: Assist in the loading and unloading of materials at job sites, ensuring weight distribution and safety protocols are followed.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck and trailer are in optimal working condition; report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Route Planning: Follow assigned routes and GPS instructions to deliver materials on time while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, including the proper use of safety gear and securing loads properly.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, miles traveled, and delivery receipts as required by FMCSA regulations.
Qualifications
- CDL Required: Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (no major violations within the last 3-5 years).
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating dump trucks or heavy haul vehicles in the construction or hauling industry.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen; must be able to lift heavy items and work in various weather conditions.
- Equipment Knowledge: Experience with dump trailers, tarping systems, and air brakes is highly preferred.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with dispatch and site foremen.
- Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and potentially night shifts as business demands.
