Responsibilities
- Safely operate dump trucks and heavy haul vehicles on various construction and commercial job sites throughout the Detroit metro area.
- Load and unload materials (gravel, dirt, asphalt, stone) efficiently and safely using skid steers or forklifts when necessary.
- Perform thorough daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and compliance with DOT standards.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and logbooks in strict accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, site foremen, and customers to coordinate logistics and traffic flow.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
- Keep the cab and truck bed clean and organized at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A required.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience operating dump trucks or heavy haul vehicles.
- Pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, hours of service (HOS), and safety standards.
- Physical ability to handle loading tasks and sit for extended periods during long hauls.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and basic mechanical aptitude.
