Responsibilities
- Safe Operation: Safely operate the school bus on assigned routes and in inclement weather conditions, strictly adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Student Supervision: Ensure the safety and comfort of students during boarding, seating, and exiting the bus; maintain discipline and order.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues and ensure the bus is in top condition.
- Route Adherence: Follow established routes and schedules accurately, communicating any delays or issues to dispatch immediately.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with parents, school administrators, and fellow drivers.
- Community Engagement: Serve as a positive role model for students and represent the district professionally.
Qualifications
- CDL Required: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Passenger (P) endorsement.
- Clean Record: Excellent driving record with no DUIs, reckless driving, or major moving violations in the last 3-5 years.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, patience, and the physical stamina required to operate a large vehicle.
