Responsibilities
- Safely Transport Students: Operate school buses along designated routes in a safe and timely manner, ensuring the well-being of all passengers.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure the vehicle is mechanically sound and safe for operation.
- Student Management: Maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus, enforcing safety rules and managing student behavior professionally.
- Route Adherence: Follow established routes and schedules strictly, adapting to changes when necessary while communicating delays to dispatch.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with parents, school staff, and students, serving as a positive role model within the community.
- Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations, including evacuating the bus safely if necessary, and completing required incident reports.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License: A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement is required.
- Driving Record: A clean driving record with no major moving violations or DUIs within the last 3-5 years.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history and fingerprinting.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally, sit for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as opening bus doors and operating mechanical controls.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
