Responsibilities
- Safely Operate Vehicles: Operate commercial trucks (Class A) in a safe, efficient, and legal manner, adhering to all DOT and company regulations.
- Pre-Trip & Post-Trip Inspections: Perform thorough daily vehicle inspections (DVIR) to ensure the truck and trailer are in proper working condition before and after every shift.
- Load Securement: Properly secure cargo using straps, chains, and binders to ensure the safety of the freight and other road users during transit.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs, bills of lading, and delivery receipts. Report any accidents or incidents immediately to dispatch.
- Route Planning: Utilize company-provided GPS and navigation tools to plan efficient routes, minimizing delays and fuel consumption.
- Customer Service: Deliver freight to designated locations in a professional manner, ensuring customer satisfaction and handling any special delivery instructions.
- Maintenance Awareness: Monitor vehicle performance and report mechanical issues promptly to the maintenance department to prevent breakdowns.
Qualifications
- CDL Class A License: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record (no major violations within the last 3 years).
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable Class A driving experience (OTR or Local preferred).
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination, including vision and hearing tests. Must be able to lift and handle cargo.
- Documentation: Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Medical Card).
- Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history and MVR review.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work well independently and as part of a dispatch team.
