Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial Class A trucks, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Load and unload cargo securely using appropriate equipment, ensuring the safety of the driver and the freight.
- Maintain accurate and timely logs using Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) to meet FMCSA hours-of-service requirements.
- Navigate delivery routes efficiently while managing time effectively to meet delivery deadlines.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status, delays, and any issues encountered on the road.
- Keep the cab and trailer clean and organized, adhering to housekeeping standards.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the state of Michigan.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience within the last 3 years.
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) and DOT drug screening clearance.
- Clean driving record with no major violations (e.g., DUI, reckless driving) within the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a background check and a pre-employment substance abuse test.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic proficiency with GPS navigation systems and ELD technology.
