Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks and tractor-trailers on local and regional routes within the Sacramento area and surrounding regions.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
- Secure cargo using appropriate straps, chains, and bars to prevent shifting or damage.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and daily logbooks.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and potential delays.
- Assist in loading and unloading cargo when required.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (no major violations in the last 3 years).
- Current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card.
- At least 1 year of verifiable driving experience in a commercial environment.
- Ability to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to meet strict delivery deadlines.
