Responsibilities
- Operate commercial trucks (Class A) safely and efficiently on local and regional routes within Washington DC.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Load and unload cargo securely, ensuring safety and preventing damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate logs (ELD) and documentation for all trips, adhering to hours-of-service rules.
- Practice defensive driving techniques to ensure the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and other drivers.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding traffic conditions, delays, or cargo issues.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (MVR).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices.
- Must be willing and able to work rotating night shifts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
