Job Overview
As a Class A CDL Driver at Apex Freight, you will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across the Midwest and Northeast corridors. We value professional conduct, timely deliveries, and a commitment to road safety.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A commercial trucks on highways and local delivery routes.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIR) and document findings.
- Load and unload cargo using proper lifting techniques and forklift equipment.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and comply with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding traffic conditions, delivery windows, and customer requirements.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the cab and trailer at all times.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA standards.
Qualifications
- Valid US Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (MVR).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Current DOT Medical Card and Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and road test.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, hours of service (HOS), and cargo securement.
- Willingness to travel between Milwaukee, WI and New York, NY areas.
- Basic computer literacy for electronic logging and communication.
