Responsibilities
- Operate Commercial Vehicles: Safely transport cargo to designated delivery locations while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Maintain Logs: Accurately complete daily logbooks (ELD) and mileage records to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Pre-Trip & Post-Trip Inspections: Perform thorough inspections of the tractor and trailer before and after every shift to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
- Customer Service: Deliver freight professionally, ensuring packages are handled with care and handling any customer inquiries or complaints with a positive attitude.
- Route Planning: Utilize GPS and mapping tools to plan efficient routes, avoiding delays and traffic congestion to meet delivery deadlines.
- Load Securing: Properly secure cargo to prevent shifting or damage during transit, adhering to weight distribution guidelines.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL License: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with the appropriate endorsements (e.g., Tanker, Hazmat).
- Driving Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred.
- Clean MVR Record: Must have a satisfactory driving record with no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years and no DUIs.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and meet the physical requirements of the job (lifting, climbing, sitting for extended periods).
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to read and understand maps, road signs, and shipping documents.
- Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and adhere to hours of service (HOS) rules.
