Responsibilities
- Operate commercial trucks safely and efficiently to deliver freight to designated locations in North Carolina and surrounding regions.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and company safety regulations.
- Load and unload cargo using proper equipment (forklift, pallet jack) to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving time, mileage, and fuel consumption (ELD compliance).
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies regarding driving conduct.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any delays.
- Keep the truck cab and trailer clean and organized at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age for interstate driving (or 18 for intrastate, depending on role specifics).
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screen.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to perform minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
