Responsibilities
- Safely Operate Commercial Vehicles: Drive tractor-trailers and delivery trucks to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area.
- Vehicle Inspections: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety compliance and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Load Management: Secure cargo properly, verify load quantities, and ensure adherence to safety regulations during loading and unloading procedures.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients and warehouse personnel to resolve any delivery discrepancies or route concerns efficiently.
- Route Planning: Utilize GPS and mapping systems to optimize delivery routes, manage time effectively, and minimize fuel consumption.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain all necessary documentation, including logbooks, manifests, and vehicle registration, in strict accordance with FMCSA regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL License: Must hold a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the required endorsements (e.g., Hazmat, Tanker, or Double/Triple Trailers depending on role).
- Driving History: A clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations in the past 3-5 years.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of commercial driving experience preferred, with a proven track record of safe driving.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, twist, and stand for extended periods. Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to read and understand maps and delivery schedules.
- Professionalism: High level of integrity, punctuality, and dedication to safety standards.
