Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles (dry van or refrigerated trailers) within the Chicago metro area and Midwest region
- Adhere strictly to DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and company safety protocols
- Efficiently load/unload freight using pallet jacks and dock equipment when required
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and electronic logging system records
- Perform pre/post-trip inspections and basic preventative maintenance checks
- Communicate proactively with dispatch and clients regarding shipment status
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year verifiable tractor-trailer experience
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening (required for immediate hire)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and operate manual transmission
- Strong knowledge of Chicago area routes and traffic patterns
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- TWIC card or willingness to obtain if required for port access
