Responsibilities
- Operate commercial trucks and trailers safely and efficiently on assigned delivery routes within the Houston area and surrounding regions.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and identify potential maintenance issues.
- Load and unload cargo securely, ensuring proper weight distribution and cargo securement procedures are followed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date driver logs (ELD/DA form) as required by federal and state laws.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company driving policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any delays.
- Perform minor vehicle maintenance and keep the cab and cargo area clean.
Qualifications
- Valid and current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
- Must possess a valid Medical Card and DOT drug screen clearance.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS) rules, and cargo securement standards.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet tight delivery deadlines.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues on the road.
