Responsibilities
- Operate commercial delivery vehicles (Class A or B) to transport goods safely to designated locations in the Indianapolis metro area and surrounding regions.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Load and unload cargo using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or forklifts as required, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing loads.
- Verify delivery manifests and obtain customer signatures or proof of delivery to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and route schedules without deviation.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance, both on the road and when interacting with customers.
- Report any vehicle maintenance issues or safety hazards to management immediately.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Class A or Class B with appropriate endorsements (e.g., Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles/Triples).
- Driving Record: Clean motor vehicle record (MVR) with no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.
- Availability: Must be available to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of verifiable driving experience in a commercial environment.
- Documentation: Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT medical card) and proof of auto insurance.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly, climb in and out of the cab, and sit for extended periods.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to read maps and GPS devices.
