Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles to deliver freight within Washington, DC metropolitan routes
- Adhere to strict DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, and company safety protocols
- Complete pre-trip inspections, post-trip documentation, and electronic logging (ELD)
- Manage efficient route planning to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel usage
- Load/unload freight with proper handling techniques and equipment operation
- Maintain clean driving record and comply with all local traffic laws
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and warehouse personnel
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with clean driving record (no major violations in 3 years)
- Minimum 2 years verifiable tractor-trailer experience
- Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screen, and background check
- Familiarity with Washington, DC metro area and commercial routing
- Strong understanding of cargo securement and weight distribution
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills for on-road repairs
- Excellent time management and customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and work in varying weather conditions
