Responsibilities
- Operate commercial trucks safely and efficiently to deliver freight to designated locations in the Oakland area and surrounding regions.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring all materials are secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and electronic logging devices (ELD) in strict adherence to Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
- Provide exceptional customer service to shippers and receivers while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Report any mechanical issues or accidents immediately to the dispatch department.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (no DUIs in the last 5 years).
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, road safety, and navigation.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for performing minor vehicle maintenance.
