Responsibilities
- Operate commercial tractor-trailers safely and efficiently on local and regional delivery routes.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual labor as required.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and Hours of Service (HOS) logs.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery schedules and any delays.
- Ensure the proper and securement of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and traffic laws at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (no major violations in the last 3 years).
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable Class A driving experience.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and road conditions in the San Jose area.
- Basic math skills for cargo weight and balance calculations.
- Willingness to work flexible night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by the schedule.
