Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Supervise student boarding, exiting, and behavior during transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch
- Follow emergency procedures and manage student safety incidents
- Maintain accurate trip records and incident reports
- Adapt routes for field trips and special events as needed
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 1 year driving experience or willingness to complete paid training
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong commitment to student safety and punctuality
- High school diploma or equivalent required
