Responsibilities
- Safely transport time-sensitive medical specimens, organs, and pharmaceuticals via climate-controlled vehicles
- Maintain strict chain-of-custody documentation and HIPAA compliance protocols
- Coordinate with hospitals, labs, and clinics for efficient pickup/delivery schedules
- Perform vehicle maintenance checks and ensure proper specimen handling equipment
- Resolve delivery exceptions through proactive communication with medical teams
- Utilize GPS tracking systems for real-time route optimization
- Complete daily trip logs and electronic manifest submissions
Qualifications
- 3+ years medical courier or biohazard transport experience
- Certification in hazardous materials handling (DOT 49 CFR) preferred
- Clean driving record and valid Virginia commercial driver's license (Class C)
- Proficiency with electronic manifest systems and mobile data terminals
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and medical specimen handling protocols
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions
- Exceptional time management and problem-solving skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
