Responsibilities
- Safely Transport Students: Drive the bus route on time, ensuring all students board and alight safely and in an orderly manner.
- Pre-Trip Inspections: Perform thorough vehicle inspections before each shift to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.
- Student Supervision: Maintain discipline on the bus and assist students with special needs as required.
- Route Adherence: Follow designated routes and schedules without deviation to ensure prompt arrivals.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Report any mechanical issues immediately to the maintenance department and keep the bus interior clean.
- Communication: Interact professionally with parents, school staff, and dispatch personnel.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL: Must possess a valid Virginia Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Driving Record: Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Availability: Must be available to work early morning and afternoon routes, including occasional late afternoons.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods.
