Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre/post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical soundness
- Monitor student behavior and maintain a secure, respectful environment on the bus
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations and district policies
- Assist students with boarding/alighting and ensure proper use of safety equipment
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, incidents, and student attendance
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger & School Bus endorsements
- Clean driving record with no more than 2 moving violations in past 3 years
- Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screening
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Child CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience working with children
- Background clearance through Live Scan fingerprinting
