Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Manage student behavior with professionalism and implement positive reinforcement techniques
- Maintain accurate attendance records and student manifests
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations and district policies
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure student evacuation protocols
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience with clean MVR (no major violations in past 3 years)
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening (provided)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed schedules
- Background check clearance required
