Responsibilities
- Safe Transportation: Drive a 60-foot bus safely along a predetermined route to pick up and drop off students at designated stops.
- Student Safety: Ensure the safety of students while loading, unloading, and on the bus by enforcing safety rules and maintaining a secure environment.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform a pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the bus to ensure it is mechanically sound and meets all safety standards.
- Route Adherence: Follow the designated route schedule accurately and on time, adapting to minor changes when necessary.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with students, parents, and school staff to provide excellent customer service and address any concerns.
- Emergency Procedures: Follow all emergency procedures and protocols to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class B: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement (S) or Passenger endorsement (P).
- Driving Record: Clean driving record with no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years and no DUIs within the last 7 years.
- Age Requirement: At least 21 years of age (for interstate driving) or 18 years of age (for intrastate driving).
- Background Check: Ability to pass a background check, including a criminal history and drug screening.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally, stand for long periods, and pass a DOT physical examination.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact positively with children and parents.
