Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following traffic laws and district policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Supervise student behavior during transport and enforce bus rules with professionalism
- Maintain accurate records including mileage, student counts, and incident reports
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to strict safety protocols during emergency situations and weather events
- Assist students with mobility needs and ensure accessibility compliance
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Driver's License with clean driving record (minimum 3 years)
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Must be 21 years or older with reliable transportation
- Pass thorough background check and fingerprinting
- Strong communication skills and patience with children
- Ability to obtain required CDL permit (training provided)
- Basic first aid/CPR certification (training provided)
- No felony convictions or DUI/DWI offenses
