Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict traffic laws and district protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure vehicle maintenance meets safety standards
- Manage student behavior with professionalism and implement positive reinforcement techniques
- Assist students with boarding, exiting, and securing safety equipment (seatbelts, wheelchairs)
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Maintain accurate attendance logs and incident documentation
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure student safety at all times
Qualifications
- Valid Minnesota Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical examination
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed schedules
- Patience and ability to work effectively with children of all ages
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
