Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school and school activities along designated routes in a timely manner.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.
- Ensure the safety and behavior of all students while on the bus; maintain a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus, especially those with special needs or mobility challenges.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, school district policies, and state regulations regarding student transportation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, dispatchers, and school staff regarding delays or issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus interior.
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Must possess a satisfactory driving record (CDL abstract).
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and physical exam.
- Ability to climb steps frequently and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Willingness to undergo a fingerprint background check.
