Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections and maintain accurate vehicle condition logs
- Manage student behavior with positive reinforcement and enforce transportation rules
- Assist students with boarding/exiting and ensure proper seatbelt usage
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers regarding delays or incidents
- Maintain clean and orderly bus interiors daily
- Participate in mandatory safety training and certification programs
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Child Protective Services (CPS) clearance and background check
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse age groups
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with mobility-impaired students
- Reliable attendance and punctuality record
