Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict traffic laws
- Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues
- Ensure student safety during boarding, transit, and disembarkation
- Maintain accurate attendance records and route documentation
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Adhere to LAUSD's safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Assist students with mobility needs as required
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement
- Clean driving record (no DUIs or major violations in past 3 years)
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical examination
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with mobility devices
- California School Bus Driver Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication skills and patience working with children
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
