Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Supervise students during boarding, transit, and exiting with firm yet compassionate leadership
- Maintain accurate attendance records and incident reports
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations and district policies
- Respond calmly to emergencies and weather-related route adjustments
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger & School Bus endorsements
- Clean driving record (no DUI/DWI convictions in past 5 years)
- Pass federal DOT physical and drug screening
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate wheelchair lifts when needed
- Experience working with children or vulnerable populations preferred
- Basic first aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Fluent English communication skills
