Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school on established routes adhering to strict schedules
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Maintain a positive, orderly environment on the bus at all times
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and district administrators
- Follow all traffic laws and district protocols for student loading/unloading
- Document incidents and maintain accurate attendance records
- Participate in ongoing safety training and professional development
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 2 years professional driving experience
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Clean driving record (no major violations in past 3 years)
- Ability to obtain required school bus certification
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Patience and ability to work with diverse student populations
- Flexibility to adjust routes during weather emergencies
