Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical soundness
- Supervise student boarding/alighting and maintain orderly conduct during transport
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route changes or delays
- Complete accurate daily mileage and incident reports
- Adhere to all district policies and emergency procedures
- Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle interior
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Pass background check, drug screening, and TB clearance
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of Chula Vista/San Diego area geography
- Patient and child-focused attitude
