Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses following strict NYC traffic and safety protocols
- Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain accurate logs
- Manage student behavior with positive reinforcement and conflict resolution
- Adapt routes efficiently during weather disruptions and emergencies
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Adhere to DOT regulations and maintain clean, orderly vehicles
Qualifications
- Valid New York State CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 1 year commercial driving experience
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist mobility-impaired students
- Fluent English communication skills
- Excellent driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
