Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness/maintenance logs
- Supervise student conduct, enforce safety rules, and ensure proper seatbelt usage
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route changes
- Handle emergency situations calmly following established crisis management procedures
- Complete daily paperwork including incident reports and attendance tracking
- Participate in ongoing safety training and professional development
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus Endorsement
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience with clean driving record
- Pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills with patience working with children
- Knowledge of Baton Rouge roadways and school district boundaries
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings and afternoons
