Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict safety protocols
- Conduct daily pre/post-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Monitor student behavior and enforce bus rules to ensure passenger safety
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Adapt routes for field trips, athletic events, and emergency schedules
- Complete accurate trip documentation and incident reports
- Maintain professional conduct representing DPS values
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger & school bus endorsements
- Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record (no major violations in past 5 years)
- Pass DOT physical, background check, and drug screening
- Child CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and navigate bus stairs safely
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
