Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks and delivery vehicles on various routes in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Load and unload cargo securely, ensuring proper weight distribution and handling of freight.
- Maintain accurate driver logs (DVIR) and adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, including verifying shipment contents and obtaining signatures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding route changes or delays.
- Keep the vehicle interior and exterior clean and organized at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A.
- Must possess a clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations in the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
- Basic English language skills for reading maps, communicating with dispatch, and interacting with customers.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to lift and move cargo weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
