Responsibilities
- Safe Operation: Operate commercial motor vehicles in a safe, efficient, and lawful manner at all times, adhering to traffic laws and company policies.
- Load Handling: Safely load and secure cargo using appropriate straps, chains, and blocks to ensure goods arrive at the destination without damage.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, documenting any defects or issues immediately.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date logbooks (ELD), delivery receipts, and all required shipping documentation.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers and drivers at delivery points, ensuring a positive image of the company.
- Route Planning: Follow assigned routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules and time windows.
Qualifications
- CDL Requirement: Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
- Driving Record: Clean driving record with no major violations within the last 3-5 years.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred.
- Medical Card: Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Physical).
- Endorsements: Hazmat and Tanker endorsements are a plus but not always required for entry-level.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to read and understand maps and GPS devices.
