Responsibilities
- Operate Class 8 tractor-trailers for regional freight delivery within Virginia and surrounding states
- Adhere to strict DOT regulations, safety protocols, and HOS compliance
- Conduct pre/post-trip inspections and basic equipment maintenance
- Load/unload freight using appropriate equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts)
- Utilize GPS navigation systems and maintain accurate delivery documentation
- Communicate with dispatch and clients regarding delivery status and delays
- Represent the company professionally at client sites and during transit
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL license with clean driving record (no major violations in past 3 years)
- Minimum 1 year tractor-trailer experience or equivalent training
- Pass DOT physical and drug screening
- Familiarity with Virginia roadways and regional geography
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor issues
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work weekends and early morning/late night shifts
