Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and district policies
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical soundness
- Supervise students during loading/unloading and maintain order throughout transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route changes or student concerns
- Implement emergency procedures and student safety protocols during all transit operations
- Maintain accurate attendance records and incident reports as required
- Complete mandatory training sessions and recertifications (CPR, First Aid, defensive driving)
Qualifications
- Valid Kansas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement (S endorsement)
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience with clean MVR (no major violations in past 5 years)
- Pass federal background check and DOT physical examination
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse student populations
- Previous experience in childcare, education, or transportation preferred
- Must be at least 21 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED
- Ability to work early mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings
