Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict schedules and traffic laws
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical soundness
- Supervise students during transit, enforcing behavioral policies and emergency protocols
- Maintain accurate route logs and incident documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatchers
- Adhere to all state and federal transportation regulations
- Assist with student boarding/alighting procedures, including wheelchair accessibility
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical examination
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate wheelchair lifts
- Strong communication skills and patience working with children
- Knowledge of Louisville area streets and traffic patterns
- Ability to work flexible hours (early mornings, afternoons, occasional weekends)
