Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to/from school and educational events according to established routes and schedules
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance
- Maintain a positive, nurturing environment for students during transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, school district policies, and safety protocols
- Handle minor student conflicts with professionalism and care
- Complete daily trip logs and incident reports accurately
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement (or willingness to obtain)
- Minimum 2 years driving experience or equivalent training
- Clean driving record with no major violations in past 3 years
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and ability to work with children in K-12 age groups
- Basic first aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
