Responsibilities
- Safely transport K-12 students on assigned routes following strict schedules and safety protocols
- Conduct thorough pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintenance reports
- Manage student behavior with positive reinforcement and clear communication
- Adapt routes for field trips, sports events, and emergency situations
- Maintain clean, orderly bus interiors and emergency equipment
- Document incidents and communicate effectively with parents/school staff
- Adhere to all federal DOT, state, and district transportation regulations
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 2 years of safe driving experience with clean MVR
- Pass DOT physical examination and drug screening
- Illinois School Bus Permit or ability to obtain immediately
- Excellent communication skills and patience with diverse student populations
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs for emergency equipment/emergency exits
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Knowledge of Chicago neighborhoods and traffic patterns
