Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following all traffic laws and district policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety
- Manage student behavior with firm yet compassionate guidance during transit
- Maintain accurate attendance and route documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators
- Adhere to strict safety protocols during emergency situations and weather conditions
- Assist students with mobility needs and special requirements as necessary
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 1 year of professional driving experience
- Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screening
- Clear background check and driving record review
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Excellent communication skills and patience working with children
- Strong knowledge of Santa Ana area streets and traffic patterns
