Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following all traffic laws and CMS policies
- Conduct thorough pre-trip/post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
- Maintain a secure, orderly environment for students during transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and school staff regarding schedules and concerns
- Adhere to strict safety protocols for loading/unloading and emergency procedures
- Complete accurate trip logs and incident documentation as required
- Support field trip transportation with meticulous attention to detail
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement
- Minimum 1 year professional driving experience
- Clean MVR with no major violations in past 3 years
- Pass background check, drug screening, and physical examination
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification (provided)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and ability to work effectively with diverse age groups
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb bus steps repeatedly
