Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses on designated routes following strict traffic laws and district policies
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and functionality
- Supervise student behavior and maintain a secure environment during transit
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding route updates
- Adhere to all federal/state transportation regulations and safety protocols
- Assist students with boarding/exiting, including those with special needs
- Complete accurate incident reports and maintenance documentation
Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- DOT medical certification and clean driving record
- Pass background check, drug screening, and TB clearance
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Excellent communication skills and patience when working with children
- Knowledge of Irvine area roads and traffic patterns preferred
