Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school on designated routes following strict safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure mechanical safety
- Maintain accurate student attendance records and route documentation
- Respond professionally to parent inquiries and communicate effectively with school staff
- Adhere to traffic laws and defensive driving techniques in all weather conditions
- Manage student behavior with firm yet compassionate guidance
- Complete all required training and certification programs
Qualifications
- Valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Class B and Passenger (P) endorsement
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Pass background check and drug screening
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and patience working with children
- Knowledge of Virginia Beach roadways and traffic patterns
