Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial Class A or B vehicles in local delivery routes throughout Oakland and surrounding areas.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing loads with straps and chains.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and all necessary delivery documentation.
- Interact professionally with clients and customers to ensure satisfaction with service delivery.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and company safety policies.
- Report mechanical issues or accidents immediately to fleet management.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (no major violations within the last 3 years).
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) or DOT medical card.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of Oakland and the greater Bay Area road network.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills for handling digital logs and paperwork.
- Willingness to work varying shifts, including early mornings or late afternoons.
